SCOTT'S MOVIE & MUSIC TRIVIA & REVIEWS

28 Years Later
28 Years Later
Director: Danny Boyle
Writers: Alex Garland
Cast: Jodie Corner, Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor–Johnson, Alfie Williams

I enjoyed this movie a lot. There are just a few minor things that could have been better, like any sequel.
There are just a few things to go over. There was a lot of dislike for this third installment in the series. However, I did enjoy its different take on the series. Yes, it may be slightly flawed, but overall, an intriguing and well-made film. The film is set in a post-pandemic world, where the infected roam in hunting tribes of zombies on the mainland led by genetically superior 'Alphas'. The mainland is an island off the coast of Northumberland, England
In addition, there is a surviving remnant of a society that is quarantined there and cut off from the mainland by a causeway that only appears at low tide. They have gone back to a Christian–like community that works well with the limited resources available.

I thought there was strong storytelling throughout the film. The performances from the leads, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alfie Williams, and Jodie Corner.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson played the father teaching his young son, played by Alfie Williams, how to survive in the new “world”. Jodie Corner is a terminally ill mother.

28 Years Later explores themes of masculinity, humanity, society, spirituality, and survival.

Danny Boyle directed 28 Days, 28 Weeks Later, Sunshine, and Slumdog Millionaire.

Alex Garland wrote Civil War, Ex Machina, and Warfare.

Trivia
  • "28 Years Later" is the third installment in the "28 Days Later" franchise, set 28 years after the initial outbreak of the Rage virus. The film primarily utilizes an iPhone 15 Pro Max for its cinematic look, alongside action cameras and other film equipment. It features a new narrative.
  • Cillian Murphy, whose character survived the events of 28 Days Later (2002) (in an alternate ending) does not appear in the movie, although the makers don't rule out his return in one of the planned sequels. Yet, viewers spotted a scene in the trailer that featured an emaciated zombie that looked suspiciously like Murphy. Fan speculation was quickly quelled when art dealer Angus Neill came forward about being cast in the movie, and appearing as the emaciated zombie in the trailer. Director Danny Boyle took the blame for the misunderstanding: "I showed my girlfriend the trailer and she said, 'People will think that's Cillian.' I said, 'Don't be silly.' I ignored her. So I've eaten a bit of humble pie since."
